We call this our natural sounding guitar. The Lollar pickups are single-coil voiced humbuckers, which is great for pedals and any genre. This model will benefit the lead or rhythm player whether you’re in the studio or stage. Instead of the typical dual humbuckers electronics, we added 2 volume and 1 tone. The bridge is a string through design which helps with note clarity and articulation. This guitar loves to be played in all styles from drop tuning hard rock, to a delicate jazz instrumental.

What makes a Shevlin Guitar a truly unique instrument is our neck profile. We use a D shape that is thin at the first fret and becomes thicker at the twelfth fret. Many players say this shape is more comfortable allowing them to play longer without fatigue. Being a flatter surface on the back and sides your thumb has more area to rest on. It usually takes a few minutes for your hand to adjust to the different shape, but not long after you will be wishing you tried this profile sooner.

The pickups in the McKenzie are truly special. They are a pair of Lollar El Rayos. Lollar hand builds each pickup in Washington. The tone you will get is very clear, especially on the neck. Even at low volume each note is full and clean. Each string will be heard with an even level. That is why we call this guitar a pedal platform, you will get a clean natural sound right at the start of your signal chain.

Our coloring is different than what you might normally expect with a guitar. Instead of hiding all the beautiful gain patters with a solid color, we highlight them. That is why each build is very unique. We use a water based wood dye to permanently color the wood. Each piece of wood accepts dye differently and that is part of the magic. Not only visually stunning for you but also the people watching your performance.
