Keeping history in consideration, this is our attempt to update a classic guitar. Using a pine body for that original guitar sound with TV Jones pickups to cover a wide selection of styles. The pickups will give a full and clean tone that can handle a variety of styles. Being a pine body the overall weight is much less than a traditional guitar of this style. Also the string through body design gives addition slap and clarity.
What makes a Shevlin Guitar a truly unique instrument is our neck profile. We use a D shape that is thin at the first fret and becomes thicker at the twelfth fret. Many players say this shape is more comfortable allowing them to play longer without fatigue. Being a flatter surface on the back and sides your thumb has more area to rest on. It usually takes a few minutes for your hand to adjust to the different shape, but not long after you will be wishing you tried this profile sooner.
TV Jones hand builds each pickup in Washington to exact vintage specs but with modern components. Though they are vintage inspired they are voiced for modern players. The bridge is the TV Jones classic based off the original Ray Butts designs.
They clean up very nice but when you dig they compress naturally but with more controlled twang. The neck pickup is a Magnatron and it's a very special design. It has all the smooth low end you expect from a humbucker but just as clean as any single coil. With these two you really do have a great pedal platform guitar.
Our coloring is different than what you might normally expect with a guitar. Instead of hiding all the beautiful gain patters with a solid color, we highlight them. That is why each build is very unique. We use a water based wood dye to permanently color the wood. Each piece of wood accepts dye differently and that is part of the magic. Not only visually stunning for you but also the people watching your performance.
